Review Process

All applications to take part in a Student Cruise Opportunity will be reviewed by Schmidt Ocean Institute staff and members of the research group the applicant desires to work with. Students may expect to receive notification of their application no later than one month prior to cruise departure. Schmidt Ocean Institute staff will review all applications to determine the most suitable candidates. All aspects of an applicant’s package will be considered, including but not limited to: experience, interests, research plan, overarching career goals, academic qualification, professional qualification and creative innovation. A prioritized list of the top candidates will be shared with the investigative team and selections will be made jointly by Schmidt Ocean Institute and the research team.
