Tanis Leonhardi is a junior pursuing a B.S. in geology and geophysics, and a minor in mathematics, at UH-Manoa (projected graduation Spring 2015).  Prior to attending UH-Manoa she spent a year and a half at the University of Washington studying aerospace engineering and environmental science, followed by half a year studying abroad in South Africa.

Given her broad range of knowledge, she is looking for ways to integrate ideas from multiple fields for her senior thesis.  Tanis currently works in both the Physical Volcanology Lab and the Experimental Petrology Lab as part of the VGP division of Geology and Geophysics in SOEST (VGP – Volcanology, Geochemistry, Petrology).   She is interested in petrology and geophysics and supplementing our knowledge of the earth using mathematical and computer modeling.  Tanis is looking forward to developing new knowledge and skills in the upcoming student cruise.
