Nur Ili Hamizah Mustaffa is a PhD student from Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM), University of Oldenburg, Germany. Her research is focus on chemical composition in Sea-surface microlayers (SML) and how it will affect air-sea CO2 exchange. She received her BSc in Chemistry and MSc in Environmental Science from National University of Malaysia. During this cruise, she will be responsible for the sampling of SML and in-situ data collection using state-of-art Sea Surface Scanner (S3). She also will analyze the concentration of extracellular carbonate anhydrase (zinc-containing enzyme) from SML, which potentially enhance CO2 exchange rate. Her research was funded by the European Research Council (ERC) project “Air-Sea Gas Exchange; Parameterization of the Sea-surface microlayer Effect (PassMe)”.
